Complete Garbage

When my computers screen conserves energy it goes to sleep on its own, and my alarm doesnt ring through that. Its only when i sign in that the alarm that should have gone off minutes/hours previously starts to ring. Also, when on my desktop it is for some reason below the dock and only when i swipe with 3 fingers up can i see its there, but it wont let me use it. This probably has a simple solution to it, but it goes to show that this has complicated silly errors for an average person that does not know computers extensively.
