No energy savings

Okay, so for a free app, this is the bomb, you get a picture of a standard digital desk clock, one alarm, 8 sounds to choose from or pick one from your music files. the one thing I can’t figure is why the clock keeps your monitor from sleeping. I hate the idea of wasting the energy all night. And I feel like this is doing something even if I turn off the monitor.
